Mark Reilly is a sedimentologist with extensive experience in remote area fieldwork and reservoir scale sequence stratigraphy from drill core and image logs.  His special interest lies in high resolution sequence stratigraphy and sedimentology.  Mark’s PhD research at the Australian School of Petroleum (University of Adelaide) on the sequence stratigraphy and sedimentology of lacustrine delta and terminal splay deposits of modern Lake Eyre, Central Australia attracted a much coveted invitation to the 2004 AAPG Hedberg Symposium on Sandstone Deposition in Lacustrine Environments in Baku, Azerbaijan.  Mark has since joined Whistler Research full-time and conducted numerous field and regional studies on the reservoir characterisation of shallow marine, fluvial and deltaic deposits.  His work includes the integration of image logs and wireline log correlations with detailed core sedimentology in onshore and offshore basins in North Africa and Australia.  In addition he has been actively involved in providing training through Whistler Research training courses.

Mark is continuing his active involvement in academic research and training in lacustrine systems and sequence stratigraphy and is a guest lecturer at the University of Queensland.
